2002-08-01 - CPR - New DVDs

From CPR :
01.08.2002
Mute Records are to release old VHS material on DVD. The record label and DM currently negotiate what material is to put and release on DVD. The new DVD tentative release dates are not before spring 2003. If the label decides to re-release the "Devotional Video" on DVD an inclusion of the missing Devotional video tracks (the ones that are on the LD) is very likely.

Yet a new live DVD for Depeche Mode?
According to the CPR Depeche Mode fanpage, the record label and the band are
currently negotiating what material is to be put and released on DVD. "The
new DVD tentative release dates are not before spring 2003", the page
informs. Pias, the band's label distribution label in the Benelux did not
want to answer on the news while the Depeche Mode camp said there's no truth
in this story... Fact is, there's currently an online poll on the band's
official website that asks fans to chose their favourite video for a release
on DVD. Leading at this moment is "Devotional" followed by the Depeche Mode
cult concertfilm "101" and "The World We Live In And Live In Hamburg". You

2002-08-24 - Depeche Mode - No New DVDs

From Brat :
There is no proof of rumors on this poll. I simply picked the question that everyone asks. This does not mean there are DVD's in the near future, or that there are even plans for them. It's just a simple question.
Please don't read more into things.

2004-06-24 - EW3 - Devotional on DVD soon

News: Devotional on DVD soon? Posted by: Peter²

First we got word from Anton that he was putting the final touches on the Devotional DVD for release some time this year.

Now, the online music shop Play.com has listed the Devotional disc as being released this September!

Too good to be true? Maybe not!

While release dates always gets pushed back and forth, the September 20th date they list does sound reasonable.

The site offers no details what-so-ever on the content of the disc, but they are pre-selling it at a reasonable price tag of £17.99, claiming the suggested retail price to be around the £30 mark, a mark that would indicate a 2-disc set.

Devotional was originally released in late 1993, and was nominated for a Grammy in 1994. The film was shot across several nights of Depeche Mode's European tour in 1993, and featured an almost complete concert. One can only hope that the "missing" tracks have been added to the disc, and that they've dug out some nice extras.

Thanks to Sin for keeping an eye out!

2004-07-22 - Side-Line (Belgium) - Depeche Mode Devotional on DVD confirmed

Depeche Mode: Devotional on DVD - confirmed
Posted on 22/07/04

Rumoured for a while, Both Mute and Labels France (the french partner for Mute Records) have now confirmed the release of the long awaited Depeche Mode live video "Devotional" as a double DVD-set on September 21st (30th according to Mute). The double DVD will come as PAL on NTSC with catalog number DMDVD4. An advanced promo will also be available holding the catalog number ADMDVD4. No tracklisting has been confirmed so far but it's hoped that the DVD will hold a complete concert including the tracks that were ommitted for the videoreleases. Produced by Richard Bell and directed by Anton Corbijn the original release had an approximate running time of 94 minutes for the UK and US laserdisc, but only 72 minutes for the US VHS version. The extra tracks on the laserdisc are "Fly On The Windscreen", "Everything Counts", "Mercy In You" and "Behind The Wheel" (The UK version of the video did have all tracks). Originally released in late 1993, it holds foottage from several nights of Depeche Mode's 1993 European tour. The strong live image combined with an exquisite sound production and mix by Alan Wilder and Steve Lyon, made this to be one of the most succesful video releases by Depeche Mode. For those who can't wait, Mute will have various "Devotional" tracks available for download on September 6th. Very likely it's the audio files from the DVD that will be available for download, but let's wait for some details. In related news, it is possible that the UK band will be dropped from Warner Records together with several other bands including New Order. The upcoming Depeche Mode remix album would however still be released on the US label. Side-Line will start presales for the "Devotional" 2DVD-set at very consumer friendly prices in the next days and weeks.

2004-07-28 - EW3 - Full Devotional DVD details...

http://web.archive.org/web/20040816092848/http://www.depeche-mode.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=EWIndex&file=article&sid=92&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

News: Full Devotional DVD details... Posted by: Peter²

It seems the full specs for the "Devotional" DVD leaked unto the internet yesterday. Looks like a fantastic package with more than a few surprises. The inclusion of previously omitted tracks, as well as the "lost" projections for the tour, makes this DVD the hitherto best in the line of Depeche DVDs currently being put out.

The Depeche Mode live concert film filmed during the 1993 European Devotional Tour in Barcelona and Frankfurt and to be released as a double DVD-set on September 21st (30th according to Mute), will include the complete concert plus extra tracks that were ommitted for the US videoreleases.
The 16 track foottage (with the 17th track "Death's Door" playing during the credits) is completed with the following bonus tracks: "Halo" and "Policy Of Truth".

The audio will be available both in 5.1 and PCM Stereo.

The second disc holds the Devotional live projections for the following 8 tracks: "Walking In My Shoes", "Stripped", "Condemnation", "Judas", "I Feel You", "Never Let Me Down Again", "In Your Room" and "Enjoy The Silence". Next are the promotional videos for "I Feel You", "Walking In My Shoes", "Condemnation (Paris Mix)", "In Your Room", "One Caress (US Video directed by Kevin Kerslake)" and "Condemnation (Live)".

Also included on the 2nd disc are the MTV Documentary "Depeche Mode Rockumentary" (over 22 minutes and directed by Nicholas Wickham), an 8 minute monologue by Anton Corbijn and what is described as Devotional Tour Programmes.

With a total running time of approximately 3 hours 26 min it will hold subtitles in the following languages: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
